Code of Conduct & Swimming Rules

Providing a safe and clean swimming pool is our priority for the citizens in Gretna. These rules are mainly an aid in providing, for all patrons, a safe and enjoyable place to swim, but are not limited to the following: 

  1. The managers have the authority to close the pool for the following reasons: 
    1. If the temperature outside is 65 degrees or cooler
    2. If inclement weather threatens: thunderstorm, lightening, or tornado warnings (The managers will wait 15 minutes after lightening strikes before allow patrons to return to the pool).
    3. If the safety of the citizens are a concern (unsafe chemical levels/accident/etc.) If weather conditions deteriorate and limited swimmers are at the pool.
  2. Conduct which may result in injury to self or the injury of others will not be permitted.
  3. Everyone must shower before entering the swimming pool.
  4. No running, wrestling, snapping towels, shoving or throwing others into the pool.
  5. Profanity will not be tolerated or obscene gestures.
  6. Playing, sitting, swinging, pulling, or standing on ropes, ladders, railing or lifeguard chairs is           NOT allowed.
  7. No carrying others on people's backs or shoulders.
  8. No diving in shallow water, no jumping in backwards, flips, twists, can-openers or rolling off the       deck into the water.
  9. Any activity that the lifeguard deems unsafe can be stopped immediately.
  10. No climbing on fence
  11. Only bathing suits and clean aqua shoes are allowed in the pool. NO cut-offs or colored shirts         in the pool.
  12. No floatation devices will be allowed in the main pool.
  13. The office telephone is for employees and emergencies only.
  14. No glass containers of any kind will be allowed.
  15. No gum, food, or drinks are allowed near the swimming pool.
  16. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages, drugs or tobacco products will be permitted in the facility          at anytime by anyone.
  17. Spitting or nose blowing in the pool area is strictly forbidden.
  18. No visiting with guards and do not walk in front of the guard stands.
  19. Bikes must be parked in the bike rack. They are not to be leaned against the pool fence or left       lying in the grass near the entrance.
  20. The City of Gretna is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  21. Persons with open wounds or other communicable disease must consult the pool supervisor         before entering the water.
