Code of Conduct & Swimming Rules
Providing a safe and clean swimming pool is our priority for the citizens in Gretna. These rules are mainly an aid in providing, for all patrons, a safe and enjoyable place to swim, but are not limited to the following:
- The managers have the authority to close the pool for the following reasons:
- If the temperature outside is 65 degrees or cooler
- If inclement weather threatens: thunderstorm, lightening, or tornado warnings (The managers will wait 15 minutes after lightening strikes before allow patrons to return to the pool).
- If the safety of the citizens are a concern (unsafe chemical levels/accident/etc.) If weather conditions deteriorate and limited swimmers are at the pool.
- Conduct which may result in injury to self or the injury of others will not be permitted.
- Everyone must shower before entering the swimming pool.
- No running, wrestling, snapping towels, shoving or throwing others into the pool.
- Profanity will not be tolerated or obscene gestures.
- Playing, sitting, swinging, pulling, or standing on ropes, ladders, railing or lifeguard chairs is NOT allowed.
- No carrying others on people's backs or shoulders.
- No diving in shallow water, no jumping in backwards, flips, twists, can-openers or rolling off the deck into the water.
- Any activity that the lifeguard deems unsafe can be stopped immediately.
- No climbing on fence
- Only bathing suits and clean aqua shoes are allowed in the pool. NO cut-offs or colored shirts in the pool.
- No floatation devices will be allowed in the main pool.
- The office telephone is for employees and emergencies only.
- No glass containers of any kind will be allowed.
- No gum, food, or drinks are allowed near the swimming pool.
- Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages, drugs or tobacco products will be permitted in the facility at anytime by anyone.
- Spitting or nose blowing in the pool area is strictly forbidden.
- No visiting with guards and do not walk in front of the guard stands.
- Bikes must be parked in the bike rack. They are not to be leaned against the pool fence or left lying in the grass near the entrance.
- The City of Gretna is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Persons with open wounds or other communicable disease must consult the pool supervisor before entering the water.
