The Planning and Zoning Commission conducts public meeting and hearing for the purpose of reviewing and developing recommendations to the City Council on a wide range of matters pertaining to the physical development of the City. The Commission develops a comprehensive general plan, known as "Plan Gretna", for the community which, after adoption by the City Council, is a guide for the orderly development of the City by both public and private sectors. The Commission shall also make recommendations to the City of any matter relating to capital improvements, building codes, subdivision development, the annexation of territory, and zoning.
The Planning Commission conducts formal meetings at 7:00 PM on the fourth Tuesday of the month on an as needed basis at the Gretna City Hall located at 204 N. McKenna Avenue. All meetings are open to the public.
Citizens are invited to give their opinions about any item on the agenda during the meeting if recognized by the Chairperson; or to stay and talk to members of the Commission about other issues after the formal meeting. The Planning Commission Members want citizens to participate in Planning Commission meetings and will make accommodations for persons who require physical or sensory accommodations. These citizens should contact the City Clerk at 402-332-3336 five (5) days prior to the meeting.
