The Gretna Library Board meets at 6:30 PM on the fourth Monday of each month at the Gretna Public Library located at 736 South Street. Regular meetings are held to conduct board business effectively. All meetings are open to the public.
The Library Board is a group of citizens who are the link between the library and its community. Board members serve as library advocates and leaders in developing responsible and creative library service to all members of the public.
There are five areas of library governance that stand out as primary responsibilities for Library Boards. They are to: - Make everyone in the community aware of the library - Hire a competent director, with approval of the City Council, when the position becomes vacant - Develop library policies - Encourage continued growth and development of library staff
